◆Beijing Hospital of Integrated Tranditional and Western Medicine, with a history of more than 50 years, integrates medical service, education, scientific research, prevention, and health care. BHICWM, as a Grade-A Hospital of Second Class, is characterized by integration of western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine.
◆Beijing Hospital of Integrated Tranditional and Western Medicine stresses on both traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, and it absorbs the essence of the two. Relying on the advantages of integrating traditional Chinese and contemporary medicine, BHICWM provides medical service, education, prevention, heath care, and scientific research regarding of the integration of these two medical sciences. BHICWM has 602 general staffs and 519 medical specialists including 57 junior and senior professionals, 13 experts with M.D degree (including post-doctoral degree), 54 masters of medicine, 1 research supervisors, 1 tutor of M.D student, and 1 municipal-class doctor of traditional Chinese medicine. BHICWM offers 350 open beds. It has set up 23 clinic departments and 6 departments of medical technology. These departments include medical service center for integration of Chinese and western medicine, cardiac department, cerebrovascular disease department, kidney disease department, gastrointestinal disease department, diabetes department, spinal and osteoarthritis department, neonatal disease department, gynecology department, obstetrics diseases department, ophthalmology department, ENT department, dental department, skin diseases department and other departments. Effects of the feature services of BHICWM are obvious.
◆As an affiliated hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Beijing Hospital of Integrated Tranditional and Western Medicine operates six scientific research centers which provide clinical teaching to students and training for graduates of more than 20 colleges and universities, for example, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Chinese Medicine School of University of Hong Kong, and Capital University of Medical Science, etc. In 2007, students of American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine came to BHICWM for their internship work. In addition, BHICWM undertakes five State-level research projects and twelve municipal-level research projects. The cardio-vascular department of Beijing Hospital of Integrated Tranditional and Western Medicine has been recognized as one of the key organizations for development of Beijing's key medical subjects.
